Decadent Red Velvet Crinkle Cookies for Special Occasions

These Red Velvet Crinkle Cookies boast a rich cocoa flavor enveloped in a soft, chewy texture, making them a delightful addition to holiday celebrations or cozy gatherings.

Ingredients
  

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar packed
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 tablespoon red food coloring
  • Powdered sugar for coating

Method
 

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, cream the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
  4. Add the eggs, one at a time, mixing well after each addition, then stir in the vanilla extract and food coloring.
  5. Gradually add the dry mixture to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
  6. Scoop heaping tablespoons of dough and roll them into balls, then roll in powdered sugar to coat.
  7. Place the cookie balls on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, spaced about 2 inches apart.
  8. Bake the cookies for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are set and the tops are slightly cracked.
  9. Remove from the oven and let cookies cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
